The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Receives First Trailer

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Teaser Trailer Super Bowl Amazon Prime Video

Amazon dropped some not-so-stunning first-look images for its upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series earlier this week, but now it’s taking a second shot at wowing us with the first teaser trailer for the upcoming series. Things look a bit better.

As you can tell from the plethora of characters shown in the trailer, Amazon’s stab at the series will be incredibly sprawling. The teaser trailer explains that the show will be taking place before The Lord of the Rings takes place, telling the story of how the Rings of Power were forged and the rise to power of Sauron. Amazon touts that the show will stretch “from the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map.”

The The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power teaser trailer definitely looks like Amazon dumped millions upon millions of dollars into it. While the look still feels a little bland, it definitely feels more alive than the stills made it look. Hopefully, when it all comes together we get a show that has a true sense of Middle-earth.

There are returning characters like Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo), who are elves and were alive back then. There are also a slew of new characters, including ones made specifically for the series like Halbrand. Since the story is based solely on the appendices of the books, there can’t be wizards or hobbits involved, but Amazon can also take some liberties as there isn’t really a story there.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on Amazon on September 2.
