The Magnificent Trufflepigs will send players on a journey of romance, adventure, and metal-detecting when it arrives on Nintendo Switch and PC early this summer. This interesting project comes from AMC Games and Andrew Crawshaw, the lead designer from Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. Crawshaw’s studio Thunkd is creating the game as its debut title, with talent such as Doctor Who star Arthur Darvill in the leading role as Adam and Safe House star Luci Fish joining in on the narrative story as Beth. You can catch a teaser trailer for the game below.

The Magnificent Trufflepigs is a first-person narrative game with metal-detecting mechanics, where players take on the role of Adam, who is described as smart but compassionate. Adam is aided by Beth as the two look to uncover a local treasure through player choices, but it sounds like things will start to go awry as the story unfolds. Thunkd says in a press release that it aims to create “high-quality, short-form, ‘evening-sized’ games,” and it sounds like The Magnificent Trufflepigs fits the bill.

AMC and Thunkd have also provided a brief description of the game’s story:

The game’s story focuses on Beth’s attempt to rekindle a childhood sense of adventure. Many years ago, she found an earring while metal-detecting on a local farm. It brought her brief fame and—most importantly—it made her feel special. But she never found the earring’s match, so she’s hatched a plan to invite Adam back into her life… leading them to dig up much more than she bargained for.

The Magnificent Trufflepigs is currently scheduled to launch in early summer.
