The Quarry is a 2K and Supermassive Games horror game that puts a star-studded cast of characters in the midst of a murderous summer camp, and it’s coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S on June 10, 2022. This time around, Supermassive is creating an experience that falls more in line with Until Dawn, its 2015 winter-getaway thriller. While the game is not part of the studio’s ongoing Dark Pictures Anthology series, many of its trademark elements remain. That means you can expect a cinematic branching narrative with a group of camp counselors you love and hate. See a story synopsis below:
When the sun goes down on the last night of summer camp, nine teenage counselors are plunged into an unpredictable night of horror. The only thing worse than the blood-drenched locals and creatures hunting them are the unimaginable choices you must make to help them survive.
Supermassive always enjoys recruiting Hollywood talent for its horror game projects, and The Quarry is no different. David Arquette is playing Chris, and then there’s Brenda Song as Kaitlyn, Justice Smith as Ryan, Ariel Winter as Abigail, and Evan Evagora as Nick. The list goes on, including Halston Sage as Emma, Miles Robbins as Dylan, Siobhan Williams as Laura, Skyler Gisondo as Max, Zach Tinker as Jacob, Ethan Suplee as Bobby, Grace Zabriskie as Eliza, Lance Henriksen as Jedediah, Lin Shaye as Constance, and Ted Raimi as Travis. The odds aren’t good they’ll all make it out of The Quarry alive.
This is the kind of cheap summer thrill Supermassive typically nails. You won’t be sifting through the dark on your own, however, as you can play with up to seven friends online in a mode that allows them to vote on important decisions. There’s also an option that allows for a couch co-op experience where each friend can pick a camp counselor to control. The Quarry is out in just a few months, but until then, you can watch the trailer below.
