Many potential players might question Gun and Sumo Digital’s decision to bring The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to last-gen consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Gun executive producer Ismael Vicens shared thoughts regarding how the decision was made:
The community asked, and we’re thrilled to answer that our partners at Sumo were able to create a plan to bring The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms in a way that preserves the gameplay and visual tone of the title while giving players what they have been asking for. It was important to us to enable every fan of the franchise to experience our vision for the game.
This isn’t Gun’s first crack at multiplayer horror video games. One of the publisher’s most popular games was the positively received Friday the 13th the Game, which put campers up against Jason Voorhees himself. This asymmetrical multiplayer formula worked well with one classic horror franchise, and it looks like it could bring another hit with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Stay tuned for more information from Gun and Sumo Digital as we move closer to that 2023 release window.
