There’s a weird, sarcastic fatalism that some journalists (myself included) affect when they want to appear objective or hide any degree of enthusiasm they might have for a hardware launch. Not that the criticism isn’t valid, it just has a strange artificial vitriol that I’ve always found pretty funny in retrospect.
