A ton of coins are about to be tossed to The Witcher. Netflix, during its Geeked Week showcase, dropped the first look at the upcoming The Witcher season 2. Not only that, but the streamer and game company CD Projekt Red also announced WitcherCon, a new convention coming in July that will be entirely about The Witcher.

The first look of The Witcher season 2 is really quick, but the internet is probably picking it apart already. Of note is the complete lack of Henry Cavill’s Geralt and the focus on Freya Allen’s Ciri as she goes on a quest to understand something. Aside from that, there are a few shots of weapons, some writing, and plenty of cold weather. In short, there isn’t much to go on, but there’s enough to get excited about.
The Witcher season 2 is said to be far more linear than the first, but basically, nothing else is known about it other than most of the characters will be returning. Netflix has a host of other Witcher shows coming, however, including an anime focusing on Geralt’s mentor and a spin-off limited series called The Witcher: Blood Oath. The latter show recently lost its lead, but the series is still on track.
Given the glut of Witcher content landing, it should come as no surprise that Netflix wants to build even more hype. To that end it’s partnered with CD Projekt Red, which develops The Witcher video games, to host WitcherCon. The event will be a two-part virtual convention that brings together both the games and shows. It will stream over both Twitch and YouTube at two separate times with each stream featuring exclusive content. The first stream will occur July 9 at 7:00 p.m. CEST and the second at 3:00 a.m. CEST on July 10. WitcherCon will include the following:
- A variety of entertaining and interactive panels spotlighting the people who brought The Witcher to life in-game and on-screen.
- Breaking news, exclusive behind the scenes, and never-before-seen reveals from across The Witcher franchise.
- Intimate looks into the creativity and production behind CD PROJEKT RED’s games, including the upcoming mobile game The Witcher: Monster Slayer, comic books and fan gear, AND Netflix’s live-action series The Witcher plus merchandise, as well as the anime film Nightmare of the Wolf.
- Expert explorations into the lore, legends, monsters, and origins of the Continent.
