THQ Nordic and Black Forest Games’ Destroy All Humans! remake has been given a July 28 release date in a new trailer. Besides showing off more revamped gameplay from the 2005 game, the footage lets fans know to jump on preorders for some exclusive content.
Launched alongside the release date news were two trailers detailing the game’s special editions. The first clip below shows off the DNA Collector’s Edition, which nets you some lithographs, a UFO figurine, and some other goodies for $149.99.
The Crypto-137 Edition includes many of the same collectibles that come with the previous version but also packs in a massive statue of the alien lead himself, as well as a cutesy backpack. This version of the game can be purchased for $399.99.
The remaster’s reveal was dropped last June, setting up the revival with as much humor as the series is known for.
The original Destroy All Humans! was a crude cult-classic sandbox adventure from Pandemic Studios. Though the game saw a sequel release just one year later, Pandemic would later close its doors in 2009. Starring the short but capable Crypto the alien, it seems Black Forest and THQ Nordic are attempting to evoke nostalgia-fueled emotions in players fond of games from the mid-2000s.
If you’re unfamiliar with the first game, Destroy All Humans! praises player creativity by offering Crypto the tools to abduct, imitate, and, in general, destroy any humans that get in their way.
THQ Nordic is one of the busiest names in the games industry today. Aside from continuing the Darksiders series, the publisher is overseeing Biomutant, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, and a bevy of other classic and new titles.
The Destroy All Humans! remake launches July 28 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
