As part of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 are together receiving a remake for modern consoles. Vicarious Visions, who handled the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy remasters, will be involved with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2.
The remake will see the return of several different features spanning the entire franchise, such as the Create-A-Park and Create-A-Skater modes. Additionally, the former will include a new editor for further customization, and players can share their own parks online as well as customize skaters with different outfits. However, for those who want to play locally, split-screen multiplayer will be available.
In an interview with IGN, Vicarious Visions studio head Jen Oneal noted that the original handling code from Neversoft was used as the foundation and that Vicarious Visions sought to modernize it. All of the missions from the original games will be returning, including the SKATE letters and secret tapes, but will also feature some new challenges for players. Players can also choose between modern and classic controls, due to the introduction of control sticks being the biggest change.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Epic Games Store on Sept. 4. The game will cost $39.99, and a digital deluxe edition will be available for $49.99 that includes “unique content and in-game gear.” A $99.99 collector’s edition comes with the digital deluxe content and a limited-run Birdhouse deck. Those who preorder the game digitally on any platform will get access to the “Warehouse Demo” at a later date.
