There will never not be Transformers movies. That’s what Paramount seems to be saying today at its investor meeting. The studio confirmed today that the release date for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has shifted to sometime in 2023 and that it will be followed by two more movies in a new trilogy of beastly movies. But wait, there’s more. Paramount also announced that the new Transformers animated series, Transformers: EarthSpark, will be arriving this fall and that the CGI animated theatrical film from Pixar’s Josh Cooley will be landing in 2024. That is a whole lot of robots in disguise.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set to be yet another soft relaunch of the franchise after the studio got scared by actually making a good movie with Bumblebee. The film will bring in the characters from Beast Wars and is said to take place between the events of Bumblebee and the Michael Bay films. Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback will star with Steven Caple Jr. directing. Given that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is still in the early stages, there is nothing known about its two sequels in this trilogy except that they exist.
Meanwhile, the 2024 animated film is said to be a prequel movie, telling the story of Optimus Prime and Megatron. That’s not exactly an original tale as it’s been told many times over the years in TV cartoons, but it’s said that the new film is in yet another timeline and not connected to any of these other films or series. That’s a lot of divergent content for one franchise, but Transformers has always been able to juggle multiple adaptations and remakes — so it may not be an issue.
