Midway announced details of the PC-exclusive Unreal Tournament 3 Collector’s Edition, due to be released in November.
The Collector’s Edition will launch simultaneously with the standard version, and is expected to retail for $10 more. It will include a special tin box, an art book and a bonus DVD featuring a history of Unreal Tournament, a behind-the-scenes look at the development of the latest chapter in the Unreal Tournament series, and over 10 hours of in-depth tutorials on the Unreal Engine 3 toolkit.
While designed primarily for online multiplayer action, Unreal Tournament 3 will feature a story-driven single-player campaign, rather than simply the offline team-combat mode that mimics online play. The Bombing Run, Double Domination and Assault game types from Unreal Tournament 2004 have been dropped, while a new game type known as Unreal Warfare has been added. Bot AI and command structures have been improved, and many new vehicles will also be present.
Unreal Tournament 3 is being developed for Windows, Linux and Mac PCs as well as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. More information, including screenshots and videos, is available at the official Unreal Tournament 3 website.
