Unreal Tournament 3 Site Opened

In anticipation of the release of its upcoming multiplayer FPS, Epic Games has opened the Unreal Tournament 3 website to the public.

The site is currently light on content; currently, only screenshots and a trailer (download the HD version here) are available for viewing. Interested gamers may also register with the site to be automatically informed of updates.

Continuing the Unreal series of games, Unreal Tournament 3 is powered by the Unreal Engine 3. Like its predecessors, Unreal Tournament 3 will focus primarily on multiplayer action; however, as a new feature in this edition, a story-based single-player game will also be included. Standard modes of play – Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag – will return, while the popular Conquest mode will feature many changes and be known as Unreal Warfare.

Also similar to past Unreal Tournament titles, an editor will be included with the game, which will allow players to create their own custom maps and content. Significantly, the PlayStation 3 version of the game will be able to make use of user mods created on the PC version.

While no firm date has been set, Unreal Tournament 3 is scheduled to ship in the second half of 2007, for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
