Unsighted is an action RPG by Studio Pixel Punk wherein you play as Alma, an amnesiac automaton fighting to reverse the robot apocalypse and find out what happened to her girlfriend. The resource all automatons use to maintain sentience has been blocked. An in-game timer counts down for each character, even Alma, for when they will become Unsighted, losing their sentience and attacking anyone who comes near. You must collect the five meteor shards marked on your map and unblock the source of robot sentience before Alma becomes Unsighted and it’s game over. You enact this plan through Metroidvania-style exploration fused with high-stakes combat.
Smooth, energetic music and stylish pixel art reinforce the story’s hopeful tone. The high-level plot is nothing you haven’t seen before, but the execution of it all is remarkably solid. Add to all this a neat roguelike mode, full-game drop-in co-op, and a New Game+ mode, and you have a well-rounded package. If you like tense, customizable, parry-based combat, dog companions, and Metroidvania exploration, Unsighted is worth your time.
Unsighted arrives on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass on September 30 for $19.99.
