It’s been yet another busy day in the video game world, with lots of news to cover — including a new, full-length Nintendo Direct at long last. Microsoft additionally announced a new Xbox Wireless Headset, Ubisoft called Rainbow Six Parasite a “placeholder” name, Call of Duty: Warzone Season Two got a release date, and more. Here’s the video game news you might’ve missed on Feb. 16, 2021.
Ubisoft Calls Rainbow Six Parasite Name a “Placeholder”
Yesterday, it was reported that Rainbow Six Quarantine had been renamed to Rainbow Six Parasite, due to “Quarantine” carrying unintended implications amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Ubisoft has commented on this in a statement to VGC, stating, “While we recently shared that we will be changing the name of Rainbow Six Quarantine, ‘Parasite’ is only a placeholder that our internal teams use. Recently, we ran an internal test for the game and some of its details became public. We can confirm this is a glimpse of the upcoming game, and we will share more details, including the official name, soon.” So, it’s unclear if the Parasite name will stick or if it will be called something else entirely, but we do know it’ll no longer be called Quarantine.
