Michael Dorn plays a werewolf general in this fan-made Castlevania adaptation.
Michael Dorn, aka Worf from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, had thought he was out of the entertainment business until co-star Mariana Sirtis talked him into appearing in Castlevania: Hymn of Blood. This fan series, made by television and film production company Warp Factor 2, features Dorn as werewolf general Thain, in the service of Dracula.
The show isn’t following Castlevania canon, which gives Warp Factor 2 a little freedom to do its own thing. “They finally got the OK from the owners, and so they’re doing it,” said Dorn in a Star Trek interview. “It’s not too far from Worf because there’s a lot of killing and jumping and sword fights and everything.” Sirtis also features, in an uncredited role as a mystic.
Hymn of Blood – so far, at least – covers the birth and early years of Simon Belmont, and is up to episode three. “The funny thing is,” said Dorn, “last year, things were going OK but slow, and I thought, ‘Well, maybe I’m retired. Maybe it’s time to think about playing more tennis and having lunches with friends.'” Then Castlevania turned up, and things got busy again. The series can be found here.
