InXile Entertainment has decided to delay Wasteland 3. Announced in a Twitter post with a detailed explanation, inXile says fans will have to wait until Aug. 28 to play the game — three months later than the original May 19 date.

Though the impact of the coronavirus pandemic seems to be the direct cause of the delay, inXile says the extra time will be used to respond to feedback from the Wasteland 3 beta.
“That’s time we’re putting into acting on Beta feedback and suggestions, optimization, polishing and refinements, and making sure we have an awesome co-op experience. We’re pouring our hearts into this game, and the last thing we want is to have anything but an amazing launch for a product we truly believe in.”
While the wait may sting during a time when many are isolating themselves from outside dangers, the end result is promised to be worth the delay.
The world has shifted due to the spread of the coronavirus, so it’s no surprise to see it affecting the development of Wasteland 3 and other game-related events. Wasteland 3 was first given a May release date back in November, when inXile also shared a new trailer as part of Microsoft’s X019 event.
