We Were Here Forever is the next co-op puzzle game in the We Were Here series, and it’s coming to Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S. Total Mayhem Games published an announcement trailer for the Antarctic-set adventure game, revealing that players will get to join up and escape Castle Rock when the game launches Q4 2021.
We Were Here Forever is the largest game in the series yet, promising mysteries to uncover, puzzles to solve, and new, previously undiscovered areas of Castle Rock to get lost in. Total Mayhem says that the step up in quality can be felt both in the project’s gameplay and in its story.
Managing Director Lucia de Visser offered her own thoughts on this next entry’s improvements to the series:
Our goal for We Were Here Forever is to further refine the cooperative gameplay people love so much from the series, designed for a new generation of hardware with a more immersive, darker, livelier Castle Rock. We Were Here Forever is a big step up for the We Were Here series. Furthermore, this game will bring some new insights on the mystery of Castle Rock. One cannot help but wonder what happened to those explorers who got left behind…
The original We Were Here launched on PC in 2017, with We Were Here Too following in 2018 and We Were Here Together coming in 2019. Each entry requires two companions to utilize walkie-talkies to communicate their way through the puzzles of an abandoned castle located in a frigid wasteland. All of the games were finally made available for PlayStation players last month, though Xbox players started to get their hands on the games back in 2019.
Stay tuned for more updates and a specific release date for We Were Here Forever.
