Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Three Fields Entertainment have announced Wreckreation for PlayStation 4 (PS4), PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC, a game designed to be the “ultimate open-world sandbox racing experience.” Three Fields contains creators of the Need for Speed and Burnout franchises, and the team wants to empower players to fully create (and destroy) their own 400-square kilometer racing realm, called a “MixWorld.” You have complete control over your racing domain.

The Wreckreation announcement trailer is total silly chaos, emphasizing the freedom and also the danger that you have the power to exert on unsuspecting racers. For every road, you will be able to set records across seven separate categories: Drift, Air, Near Miss, Stunt, Crash, and Time. In MixWorld, you can place jumps, loops, obstacles, and go off-road with tracks. The customization extends to the cars themselves as well, being able to select paint colors, finishes, wheels, boost flames, engine sounds, and glass colors right from the beginning. There is even an “old-school FM Radio dial featuring 16 channels as well as the option to stream your favourite Premium Spotify playlist.”

Basically, if you enjoyed ModNation Racers back in the day, it sounds like Wreckreation from Three Fields Entertainment and THQ Nordic will be the next evolution in race and world creation — check out a couple screenshots below.
