In a little over two weeks, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will hit theaters. It’s going to be an exciting time, mostly due to Idris Elba playing Knuckles. Regardless of your reasons for wanting to see the film, Xbox has something special lined up for Sonic fans. The company is giving away custom furry Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Xbox controllers and a themed Series S.
Xbox revealed details on the giveaway contest in a blog post, which has accompanying rules. Basically, you can enter the contest in two ways. The simplest way is to retweet the official Xbox sweepstakes news and include the hashtag #XboxSonic2Sweepstakes. The other way to enter is exclusive to U.S. residents and involves redeeming Microsoft Rewards points. The entry period has just started and, according to the rules page, ends at 11:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. PT on Wednesday, April 30. However, the announcement tweet claims the contest ends much sooner, on April 4.
As you can see, the customized Sonic the Hedgehog 2 black Xbox Series S console has a golden portal ring on its surface, which is quite tempting to grab. Also, the Sonic Blue and Knuckles Red controllers contain textured coatings that are meant to simulate the texture of real-life hedgehogs. Minus the spines, of course. I wouldn’t be able to play with them, as I’d constantly rub them against my face.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 releases in theaters in the United States on April 8.
