XCOM: Enemy Unknown Will Arrive on Android “Soon” – Update

Android XCOM

A post from the official XCOM Twitter has confirmed that Enemy Unknown will be “coming soon” to Google Play and the Amazon App Store.

Update: XCOM: Enemy Unknown is now available in the Google Play store for $9.99.

On June 2013, XCOM: Enemy Unknown made the leap from consoles and PCs onto iOS where it impressed many with its relatively faithful adaptation of the game’s deep and entertaining strategy mechanics. The game’s success on iOS however, left many fans on the Android side of the mobile world wondering when (or even if) they’d get their version of the newly portable tactics title.

Well, it’s been more than a year since the initial announcement of the iOS edition and answers may finally be on the horizon. A posting from the official XCOM Twitter account has indicated that an Android edition “is coming soon to Google Play and the Amazon Appstore!”

While this is undoubtedly excellent news for Android devotees, the unfortunate bit is that neither Firaxis or 2K have revealed any further details about the game’s new release as of yet. That being the case, if the Android port mirrors the iOS game we can hopefully expect it to arrive sometime with the next few months. Likewise, we can’t imagine that Google Play or the Amazon AppStore would charge more than the $19.99 the game costs on. We will, of course, keep you updated as more details become available.
