Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Release Date Trailer Reveals New, Earlier Launch

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 release date trailer special edition July 29, 2022 Nintendo Switch Monolith Soft RPG

Nintendo has revealed the release date trailer for Monolith Soft RPG Xenoblade Chronicles 3, setting a launch date of July 29, 2022. This is somewhat stunning in that the game was originally supposed to release in September. In other words, the release date has been pushed forward by more than a month. That would suggest the game is already almost finished with development.

In addition to the release date trailer, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 received new gameplay and story details today. This time around, you can control a party of upward of seven characters at once, including six main story characters and a seventh slot filled by people you meet in your journey. That is quite the difference from Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, where you controlled a party of three.

The two protagonists of the game are Noah and Mio, who are navigating the conflict between the nations of Keves and Agnus. They and the other party members will learn the “truth” behind the conflict and “set their sights for Swordsmarch, a land pierced by a giant sword.” Intriguingly, each character has their own distinct class, and classes can be changed later in teh game. Noah is a close-range Swordfighter, whereas Mio is a Zephyr, which seems to draw aggro while avoiding their attacks. Additionally, there are three pairs of party members — Noah and Mio, Lanz and Sena, Eunie and Taion — who can activate the “Interlink system” to combine into a giant “Ouroboros” form with its own awesome powers.

Finally, Nintendo announced a Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition will launch and be available to preorder exclusively on the My Nintendo Store, including a full-color 250-page+ hardcover art book and a steel case.

So, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has a special edition and a new July release date. That’s a pretty good way for Nintendo and JRPG fans to start their day.
