During the New Game+ Expo, NIS America announced that Falcom’s Ys IX: Monstrum Nox would be localized and released in 2021. Canonically, Ys IX is the most current adventure in the series timeline following 2009’s Ys Seven.
This new entry follows Adol Christin as he becomes cursed into becoming a Monstrum by a woman named Aprilis while being imprisoned for trespassing in Balduq. He gains new powers through this curse and aims to stop the Grimwald Nox, a supernatural force that threatens to destroy Balduq. Adol must also uncover the secrets behind the Monstrum curse and the city itself.
Adol is joined by five playable allies as he navigates through Balduq while defeating enemies, helping the townsfolk with quests, or just exploring the beautiful city.
NIS America currently has preorders for its PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Limited Editions up, which include a deluxe “Pact Edition” of the game, a hardcover art book, official soundtrack, and much more. It will run for $99.99. The game is also available to wishlist on Steam.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox was originally released in Japan for the PlayStation 4 in September 2019. The platforms for the western release of the Japanese action RPG will include PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2021.
